Chapter 2   Standard Features

CAUTION:

The Archer 3 is not sealed against water and dust

when the battery door is not installed properly.

CAUTION:

Power-off the Archer 3 before removing the

battery. If you remove the battery without powering-off

the handheld, you may damage the handheld and/or lose

data.

Battery Life

Battery life on a full charge is generally up to 20 hours. This

can vary depending on the applications used, backlight

usage, and radio usage.

Battery packs last approximately 1,000 to 3,000 charging

cycles before they need to be replaced. This is impacted by

applications and environmental factors.

Depending on the current charge on the battery, you may

see different displays when turning on the unit. If the battery

is completely discharged, you will see the following image.

The Archer 3 is designed to run in either of two power states,

battery power, or external power with battery installed.

The unit is not designed to run on external power without a

battery. Doing so can damage internal components of your

unit and void the warranty.

Summary of Options to Reduce Power Usage

You can adjust some settings to preserve power:

„

Turn off the display (suspend) after a set interval.

„

Dim the backlight after a set interval.

„

Disable radios when not in use.
