Z2C Installation and Operation Manual
Resources Area. This indicates that the icon must be removed from its current location in
order to be used elsewhere.
Green, yellow, red border:
The border colors (green/yellow/red) used to identify the various
roles within the Dispatch area are also visible on these icons in the Resources Area. A yellow
border indicates the channel is being monitored (one-way) and red indicates it is in two-way
communication with the Dispatcher.
Dispatch to channel not in a net:
It is possible to Dispatch to a channel resource while it
remains in the Resources Area; that resource is still free to be placed in a net. For example, a
Dispatcher may be monitoring communications from a system, waiting for a user on that
system to request being placed in a net. Therefore, if an icon is put into the Dispatch Area
but is not part of a net, it is still a free resource and the icon is not grayed out.
Channel icons in Net and in Dispatch:
Channel icons can be simultaneously located in both
the Net Area and the Dispatch Area. That is, if an icon is actively engaged in an
interoperability net, it can also be in the Dispatch Area for monitor or Dispatch. A grayed-
out version will be visible in the Resources Area, and in the Net Area during two-way
communication with the Dispatcher.
Right click:
Along with Drag-and-Drop capability, appropriate right-click activated actions
can be performed on icons anywhere on the Home Screen, including those within the
Resources Area.
•
For example, an icon in the Resources Area that is not currently in a net has the right-
click option
Place in the Next Net,
but does not have the option
Remove from nets
,
which applies to icons in a net.
•
Some right-click options are appropriate, and offered, for multiple locations where an
icon is currently residing. For example, consider an icon that is being monitored in
the Dispatch Area while also acting as a member of an interoperability net. The option
Terminate Dispatch
is available for this icon no matter which of its three
representations are right clicked.
Minimize Resources:
Click on the carat or arrow in the Resources Area to collapse it into a
thin vertical ribbon with only a
symbol. Use this symbol to re-expand the Resources Area.
6.3.2
Dispatch Source Area
Dispatch Source icon:
The system dispatcher is represented by the Dispatch Source, which
is an icon dragged and dropped into the Dispatch Source Drop Zone, located inside the
Dispatch Area.
Audio to the Dispatcher:
The system dispatcher will hear any audio that comes into any
icon that currently resides in the Dispatch Area. This includes any one-way/monitor only
icons with a yellow border as well as any two-way communications icons with red borders.
Audio from the Dispatcher:
Audio from the Dispatch Source is heard only by the red
bordered, two-way icons.
