Section Assembly of Four-Piece Cells (cont’d)
Prior to rigging the coil section, install sealer tape along verti-
cal flange between the coil and plenum sections. Align the coil
section to plenum utilizing drift pins in the alignment holes on
plenum section, which are accessible from outside the unit.
From inside plenum section, accessible once drift eliminators
are removed, fasten hardware to coil section using pre-installed
welded nuts on coil section. Secure the coil section to lower
section using 1/2” hardware.

Section Assembly of Two-Piece Cells
To assemble a two-piece cell, position the lower section on the
unit supports and bolt in place. Install sealer tape supplied with
the unit, as illustrated in Figure 7, on the mating flanges of the
lower section in a continuous line. Sealer tape should overlap
at each corner. Using drift pins, as shown in Figure 8, in the bolt
holes provided, guide the top section onto the bottom section
starting with bolt hole at one corner and following down the
flange. Screw in place using the self-tapping screws or bolts,
supplied with the unit, to ensure leak-free operation.

BLEED LINE INSTALLATION
On ECH units operating with a remote sump tank, install a bleed
line with valve between the system circulating pump discharge
riser and a convenient drain. Locate the bleed line in a portion of
the riser piping that drains when the pump is off. ECH units that
are furnished with a factory-installed circulating pump include
a bleed line with valve.
CAUTION
The bleed valve should always be open when the unit is in
operation, unless the bleed rate is automatically controlled
by a water treatment system. See Bleed Rate section under
Water Treatment at the end of the MAINTENANCE section.
Optional Accessories and Equipment
All optional accessories such as ladders, safety cages, platforms
and handrail packages should be installed as shown on the
appropriate reference drawing in the submittal package from
Johnson Controls. Any applicable reference drawings are in-
cluded with the unit in the envelope attached to the side of the
unit marked “Contractor’s Installation Information.”
