CHAIN ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE
5.13 Remove o--ring (item 17) from blade shaft (item
22).
5.14 Remove external ring (item 14).
5.15 Remove driven gear (item 15).
5.16 Remove square keys (item 21).
5.17 Push bearing cover (item 19) to remove ball bear-
ing (item 16) from blade shaft (item 22). When
ball bearing is removed, separate bearing cover
from blade shaft.
5.18 Remove shaft seal (item 18).
6 GEARBOX INSTALLATION: SAWS
Refer to figure F, page 9 for all referenced items.
6.1 Reverse steps and procedures outlined in section
5.

6.1.1 Prepack ball bearing (item 16) and needle
bearing (item 12) with
Jarvis
1315 White
Grease
before installing gear and bearing as-
semblies.
6.1.2 Add a light amount of
Jarvis
1315 White
Grease
to outside surface of taper lock hub
(item 30) before installing driver gear (item
29).
6.1.3
Install and tighten screws (item 28) to 50 lb-
in
.
6.1.4 Remember to install o--rings (items 17 and 33)
when assembling gearbox.
7 SLIDE DISASSEMBLY:
Note: If removing vertical saw blade, move carriage to
right side guard to remove slide assembly. If removing
horizontal saw blade, carriage can remain in current
position for saw blade removal.
Refer to figure I, page11 for all referenced items, unless
otherwise noted.
7.1 Turn off power to NBS--1.
7.2 Unplug quick connect couplings (items 27 and 28,
figure K, page 13) and water lines (item 1, figure
L, page 13) connected to saw motor.
7.3 Remove screws (item 2 figure F, page 9) and
square washers (item 3, figure F, page 9) that fas-
ten pivot shaft (item 4, figure F, page 9) to pivot
base (item 3).
7.4 Slide saw motor(s), pivot shaft and saw motor
gearbox out from pivot base as one unit.
7.5 Loosen thumb screw (item 28).
7.6 Remove screws (item 22) securing thick end cap
to base plate (item 36).
7.7 Remove slide plate (item 29), knob (item 17) and
pivot base (item 3) as one unit.
7.8 Remove screws (item 1) and lock washers (item
2) to separate pivot base (item 3) from slide plate
(item 29).
7.9 Remove screws (item 7) securing base plate (item
36) from slide bracket (item 9) or plate (item 38).
8 SLIDE INSTALLATION:
8.1 Reverse steps and procedures outlined in section
7.
See special notes below:
8.1.1 Squirt food grade oil on lead screw of slide as-
sembly.
8.1.2 To adjust play in the slide assembly, tighten set
screws (item 25) until slide binds, then loosen
slightly.
9 CARRIAGE LINEAR BEARING REPLACEMENT:
9.1 Turn off power to NBS--1.
9.2 Loosen chain tensioner screw (item 23, figure D,
page 7) to loosen roller chain (item 27, figure D,
page 7).
