RS232

You can use the connection cable included in 
the scope of supply to connect the UMG604 
to a PC.
The achievable distance between two devices 
with  RS232  interface  depends  on  the  cable 
used  and  the  baud  rate.  The  maximum 
connectable cable length is 30 m!
As  a  guideline  value,  for  a  transmission  rate 
of 9600 baud the distance should not exceed 
15 m to 30 m.

The  permissible  ohmic  load  must  be  larger 
than 3 kohm and the capacitive load caused 
by  the  transmission  cable  must  be  smaller 
than 2500 pF.

Interfaces

Shielding

A twisted-conductor and shielded cable must 
be  provided  for  connections  via  the  RS232 
interface.  The  shielding  at  both  ends  of  the 
cable must be connected to a large area of the 
housing or cabinet parts in order to achieve an 
adequate shielding effect.

Installation

Important!
Profibus,  RS232,  RS485  and 
temperature measurement input are 
not metallically separated from each 
other.
