GPS
GPS Overview
The XT1 mini-tablet incorporates a
u-blox 7 MAX-7 Series GNS
S GPS module which is
ready to function with a variety of GPS and GPS-reliant applications, ranging from
everyday GPS navigation to location tagging.
Depending on the XT1 user’s requirements, third party applications are necessary to
enable GPS functionality. These applications are widely available in the
APK
format
from open sources

and from custom developers and are generally easy to install. It is,
however strongly recommended that any third party applications be deemed
trustworthy before installing them.
GPS Location Access
Specific
Settings
permissions are key to GPS functionality.
To enable GPS location access:
1.
From the
Home
screen, touch
Settings
.
2.
From the
Location access
menu:
a.
Touch
Off
to switch
Access to my location
to
ON
(Figure 1).

This allows applications that have (1) asked for
permission and (2) as part of their functionality need the
XT1’s location use GPS-based location information.
⎯
No action is necessary if
Access to my location
is
already
ON.
b.
Touch the
GPS satellites
checkbox and confirm that a blue
checkmark
is shown.
⎯
This also permits applications to use the XT1 GPS system
to pinpoint the XT1’s location.
⎯
No action is necessary if
GPS satellites
is checked.
Note:
Satellite reception is often restricted when indoors.
As a result, up-to-date GPS location information may
not be available.
