OVERVIEW:
Out
door cargo nets are designed to provide and improve climbing ability combining many
strength, movement, special and coordination skills. They are specifically fabricated to hang as
described in the instructions and used in a
n
atmosphere requiring supervision, spotting and mats
etc.
Modification and/or use other than intended and/or alternative installation is not
recommended.
Jammar can fabricate a cargo climbing net to fit any structurally safe play structure or specially
designed framework. Climbing nets are easy to install and can last many years when attached
to smooth nonabrasive hardware and properly installed and maintained.
INTENDED USE
:
Jammar climbing nets are intended for supervised playground and/or specialized climbing
programs. Nets must be used where responsible and adult supervision can monitor usage and
also inspect and maintain equipment. In the following paragraphs we will set forth valuable
information to ensure a safe climbing environment. Many excerpts and references will be made
to the Handbook for Public Playground Safety, Publication #325 of the US consumer Product
Safety Commission’s (CPSC). This publication presents playground equipment safety information
in the form of guidelines. It is intended for use by parks and recreation personnel, school
officials, equipment purchasers, installers, and others interested in playground safety.
TYPES OF CARGO NETS:
Jammar offers two different styles of cargo nets with slightly different construction and
attachment methods. Both styles are offered in either 9" or 12" squares. These instructions include
details to install either style cargo net. Construction of each net is as follows:
CHOOSING THE PROPER CARGO NET HEIGHT:
Accidents can and do happen on playground equipment and responsible heights must be set
depending on the use your net will receive. Never let a climber jump or drop off a climbing
net. Always descend to the bottom of net and step off.
We do not recommend cargo net climbing for preschool children for obvious reasons such as
size of mesh openings, height, strength, etc. For school age children we recommend a height
not to exceed 5 feet particularly with K-3 age children with adult supervision and proper
spotting if needed for developmental challenged children. Heights over 5 feet need to be
supervised to ensure safe play and climbing. As heights increase so must spotting and
supervision. For extreme heights additional safety measures and/or safety equipment must be
made available to the climber by knowledgeable and experienced professional.
CHOOSING THE PROPER LOCATION TO BE INSTALLED:
Nets must be hung from structurally safe framework which will exceed any load placed on the
net. Do not place the net too close to a wall where objects on the wall can injure or interfere with
a climber. Do not climb the side of the net near a wall if it is too close to superv
ision.
