2.5.2. Making idle
If the machine is to be set aside for a long period, it is recom-
mended to:
• Treat the Shears according to the instructions contained
in the “Safe maintenance” paragraph;
• Check the machine and have any damaged parts replaced;
• Accurately clean the Shears, spreading a thin layer of oil
on blade and counter-blade to prevent oxidation;
• Close the blades by holding down the trigger (1) (Fig. 1)
and turn off the battery by pressing the suitable button (3);
• Store the Shears and relevant supply batteries in the
proper spaces of the standard supplied case in order
to protect them from excessive humidity and changes
in temperature;
• Store the case containing the Shears in a dry and protected
room, away from the reach of persons not in charge of
use the equipment.
If these operations are carried out properly, the user will find
the Shears in perfect condition when it is required again.
If the Shears are to be dismantled, comply with the relative an-
ti-pollution legislation of the Country of use.
It should not be forgotten that the Manufacturer is always
available if you require any assistance or spare parts.
2.6. Safe use
To assure safe use of the Shears it is mandatory to comply with
the following requirements:
The Shears have been exclusively designed for pruning shrubs
and branches with diameter less than 40 mm; any other use of
the equipment not indicated in this manual is considered as
misuse, hence strictly forbidden.
The cutting ability is also affected by the hardness of the wood.
• It is forbidden
to use the Shears to shear materials other
than wood, such as plasticized items, metals, glass etc.
• It is forbidden
to operate or have the Shears operated
by personnel that are unsuitably trained, unauthorized
or in poor health.
• It is forbidden
to operate with the Shears using ladders
or supports that do not assure stable balance.
• It is forbidden
to operate in areas where potentially ex-
plosive atmospheres might occur (Directive 1999/92/EC).
• It is forbidden
to alter, tamper with or bypass the safety
devices provided by the manufacturer.
• It is forbidden
to operate when the labels inside the case
indicating the warning signs are missing or damaged.
Have them immediately replaced with other labels having
the same meaning.
• It is forbidden
to touch in any way moving parts during
work.
• It is forbidden
to tamper with, remove, damage or bypass
any part of the Shears.
• It is forbidden
to place pieces of iron or other foreign
bodies under the cutting blade while the equipment
is in operation
• It is forbidden
to carry the Shears while holding them
by the power supply cord.
• It is forbidden
to use the power supply cord for purposes
other than the intended ones.
• It is forbidden
to place the power supply cord close to
heat sources, oil or sharp edges.
• Damaged cords increase the risk of occurrence of elec-
trocution.
• It is forbidden
to leave the Shears unattended: the ma-
chine must be under one’s control at all times.
• It is forbidden
to use the Shears when atmospheric con-
ditions are unfavorable: the Shears have been designed
and constructed to operate in dry environment, protected
from the weather.
• Do not use in the event of rain or high degree of humidity.
• It is forbidden
to place the Shears on the ground: Short
circuit hazard.
• It is forbidden
to touch the battery charger while
charging. Danger of burns.
• It is forbidden
to place the battery charger close to
sources of ignition or flammable products.
• It is forbidden
to tamper with the battery backpack
powering the Shears.
• Electrocution hazard. The battery kit opening is elec-
tronically controlled and any opening is recorded on an
electronic board.
• It is mandatory
to strictly comply with all accident-pre-
vention measures recommended and described in this
manual.
• It is mandatory
to check that all the safety devices of
the Shears are intact and functional before using them.
• It is mandatory
to ensure, prior to connecting the
equipment to the power supply, that the battery switch
is in the “0” position (off).
• It is mandatory
for the environment where the Shears
are operated to be adequately lit. Insufficient or excessive
lighting may pose a risk to the operator.
• It is mandatory
to keep the Shears away from children
and animals.
• It is mandatory
to familiarize yourself with the control
devices and their functions prior to starting work.
• It is mandatory
to use suitable clothing. Strictly avoid
long or loose clothing that might be caught in any way
by rotating or moving parts.
• Wear suitable helmets, glasses, gloves, footwear, etc.
• It is mandatory
to constantly ensure one is in a safe
position with respect to the operating machine and in
the right balance.
