8 MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION
Check Engine Oil Level
Check the engine oil level before you start or at least five
minutes after you stop the engine.
1.
Park the machine on level ground, remove the
dipstick (A), clean with a cloth and replace in
position.
2.
Remove the dipstick (A) again and check the oil
level. The oil must be between the two level
indicators (B) on the dipstick.
Change Engine Oil
1.
Start the engine to increase the temperature, then
turn off the engine. Remove the oil drain plug (C)
from the bottom of the crankcase and clean with a
cloth.
2.
Drain the engine oil into a container.
3.
Replace the drain plug (C) and fill the engine with
the correct quantity and grade of oil through the
filler (E).
Change Engine Oil Filter
1.
Remove the oil filter cartridge (D).
2.
Let the engine oil flow into a container.
3.
Clean area on the crankcase.
4.
Apply a thin layer of oil to cartridge gasket before you install the filter.
5.
Only use your hand to tighten the filter cartridge (D).
6.
Check for oil leaks around the cartridge gasket after the engine is started.
CAUTION
Engine oil can damage your skin. Use the applicable safety equipment.
If engine oil touches the skin, clean the area immediately.
Discard used engine oil in accordance with local regulations.
