STORAGE
At the endof
the mowing season,
or if the mower is to
be stored for any length of time, the following
steps are
recommended.
The mower may bestored onend to take up less space.
Lift upthe unit
by the bar at the front
connecting the
hitch latches andraise the mower
until it rests on the
rear roller mounting arms.
Wash off
accumulated
grass clippings
and dust
with
spray from agarden hose.
If necessary, asoft
bristled
scrub brush can beused to clean the rollers.
Asmall
stick can be used
effectively
to clean out
corners under the deck.
NOTE
The mower may
also
be cleaned while attached to
the tractor. Awash-out connector ison the lefthand
side of the mower
housing for that purpose. See
instructions under "Washing Mower".
Wipe the entire
unit with
aclean
cloth
to remove
gasoline stains and oil
spots. To prevent rusting, touch
upspots where paint
has beenremoved.
When the mower
is completely
dry, apply lubrication.
Follow the lubricating
instructions
inthis manual.
WASHING
MOWER
We recommend
washing
the mower with ahose to
prevent the accumulation
of grass clippings
and dirt
and to keepthe unit
operating efficiently.
The mower may be cleaned
while
attached
to the
tractor. Awashout connector islocated onthe left
hand
side of the mower housing for that purpose.
To clean
unit, proceed as follows:
1. Position the tractor
with thedischarge
chute toward
an open area.
Remove the
cap onthe wash-out
connector.
2. Make surethe tractor
is in"neutral"
andthe parking
brake is "ON".
3. Set the mower to its lowest
cutting position.
4. Start
the
engine
and
run
at
"FAST"
speed,
approximately 3/4to full throttle.
Engagethe electric
PTOclutch to operate the mower.
5. Direct astream of
water from agarden hose into the
wash-out connector
until trash is no longer
being
discharged.
6. After washing the mower.
STOPTHE ENGINE before
performing any other maintenance operations.
