Cleaning
To remove oxide layers on welded high-grade steel components, use a strip of the accompany
-
ing cleaning / polishing felt. Fasten the strip by means of the O-ring to the hand stamp.
Caution: To prevent short-circuits, the cleaning / polishing felt must be replaced on time during
extended periods of use.
Connect the stamp to the black socket of the POLICLEAN 300 ST via the accompanying black
cable. Connect the red cable to the workpiece. Pour a quantity of the appropriate electro
-
lyte (Electrolyte A for light oxide layers) into the accompanying wide-neck vessel and immerse
the stamp into it. Rub the oxide layer with the stamp until the layer has disappeared. The
selector switch must be set to 1 (cleaning) in this process.
Caution: When using chemicals, it is always advisable to wear protective goggles, apron and
safety gloves.
During extended use, the stamp might overheat. In this case, cool it in a water bath or mount
a second stamp. If the device overheats, it is deactivated by a thermal overload protection
mechanism.
Caution: Always change the felt and clean the anode when changing from cleaning to marking,
failure to do so could result in blackening of the component.
Polishing
To polish VA-steel, use a strip of the accompanying polishing felt. Fasten the strip by means of
the O-ring to the hand stamp.
Caution: To prevent short-circuits, the cleaning / polishing felt must be replaced on time during
extended periods of use.
Connect the stamp to the black socket of the POLICLEAN 300 ST via the accompanying black
cable. Connect the red cable to the workpiece. Pour a quantity of the accompanying
Electrolyte C into the accompanying wide-neck vessel and immerse the stamp into it. Rub
the spot requiring cleaning a few times with the stamp. The selector switch must be set to 2
(polishing) in this process.
Caution: When using chemicals, it is always advisable to wear protective goggles, apron and
safety gloves.
During extended use, the stamp might overheat. In this case, cool it in a water bath or mount
a second stamp. If the device overheats, it is deactivated by a thermal overload protection
mechanism. Wait for a few seconds and then press the thermal fuse on the front panel in
again.
