Introduction
The ISC2 is a cost-effective Single Serial media converters solution for conversion between Serial RS-
232/ RS485/ RS422 interfaces over optical fiber. The iSC2 has been designed to be fully compliant
with the standards of IEC61850-3 and IEEE1613.
The ISC2 is a utility-grade, protocol-independent, serial-to-fiber and serial standards converter for all
your serial communication requirements. The ISC2 allows RS485, RS422, or RS232 devices or
networks to communicate over secure, noise immune, fiber optic cabling at extended distances as
well convert RS232 to either RS485 or RS422 serial standards.
The iSC2 Series accepts a wide input voltage range from dual 10-36VDC or 36-72VDC power
inputs to a single input 88-370VDC or 85-264VAC, so it is suitable for harsh operating
environments. These features combined with a wide operating temperature of -40
o
C to +85
o
C,
helps protect mission critical applications from Network interruptions or temporary malfunctions.
