Methods of gaining remote access to the modem
In the
Server
mode the modem supports the same functions as in the
Client
mode. In the same way that is
described in sections
"Service Mode", "Offline Mode", "
Embedded Software (Firmware)", "Setting Up
the Modem", "Working with SIM Cards", "Connecting to the Server via SMS
via CSD", "Watchdog Timers", "Real-Time Clock (RTC)", "GPIO Pins Operation", "Operating with Incoming
In the
Server
mode the modem supports operation with the IRZ Collector software solution. To receive data
from an external device connected to the server modem there is no need to deploy the iRZ Collector server
–
the server modem can be accessed directly. However, the iRZ Collector server enables the remote modems to
be monitored and controlled from the dispatching center. On server modem operation with iRZ Collector see
section
“Monitoring and Control via iRZ Collector”
.
In addition, the modem features additional functions in the
Server
mode: the mode of
client’s connection to
the modem, and sending SMS message when changing IP address. However, the option of the offline mode
access is not available if no data is found.
For operating in
Server
mode you need to specify the port number for incoming connections (the
Incoming
Port
parameter in the tab
Settings → Basic
of the ATM Control utility).
4.19.1. Authentication of Connecting Clients
The server modem can operate only with one client at one time.
The server modem can limit the attempts to connect clients. For this purpose one of the authentication types
is used: by iRZ protocol, by IP address or with no authentication. Note: If authentication is disabled, connection
is established to any client who tries to connect to the server modem.
