4.9. Working with the iRZ Collector Server

The ATM modem supports operation both with a common server and the server with the installed iRZ Collec-

tor server software (hereinafter

– the iRZ Collector server).

The primary function of the iRZ Collector server is to provide communication between the client modem and

the  external  device  polling  software,  which  also  serves  as  a  client.  Two  clients  cannot  intercommunicate

directly,  the  server  is  required.  This  is  the  iRZ  Collector  server  has  been  developed.  It  serves  as  a  "layer"

between  the  modem  client  and  the  software-client  providing  their  communication.  What's  more,  the  iRZ

Collector  provides  remote  monitoring,  firmware  updating  and  configuring  the  system  of  modems,  as  well  as

sending SMS command to the modem via the dispatching application.

When the modem operates in the

Client

mode, the iRZ Collector server is used for its first intended purpose

– to receive data from external devices. In addition, the modems can be monitored and controlled via the iRZ

Collector dispatching application.
