Adjusting Fork
W A R N I N G
Castor angle vertical axis MUST be at 90° +/- 1° from the ground, if not a
flattering risk may occur. Both caster assemblies should be at the same angle.
After ANY adjustments, before use, make sure all attaching hardware
is tightened securely - otherwise injury or damage may occur.
NOTE: For this procedure, refer to FIGURE 5.8.
1. Remove the dust cover from the caster housing
.
2. To properly tighten castor journal system and guard
against flutter, perform the following check:
A. Tip back the wheelchair to floor.
B. Pivot castor fork assemblies in rear position
C. Push castor to initiate clockwise movement
D. Let castor fork assembly rotate freely,
if not change the upper specific bearing.
3. Adjust locknuts to appropriate torque (15/20 Nm)
with a 19 mm socket wrench; do not over tight the
locknut, you may risk damaging the bearings.
4. Test wheelchair for manoeuvrability.
5. Snap dust cover into the caster housing.
6. Perform STEPS 1 to 5 on the other side.
