The following table explains each parameter.
Parameter
Explanation
WEP Receive Data
Determines if the access point will receive transmissions from wireless
end devices that are not using WEP encryption. Choose Unencryption
Allowed to accept transmissions from devices that are not using WEP
encryption. Choose Encryption Required to block transmissions from
end devices that are not using WEP encryption.
WEP Transmit Key
Determines which of the four default WEP keys this access point uses
to transmit data.
WEP Key 1
For WEP 64, you enter five ASCII characters or five hex pairs. For
WEP 128, you enter 13 ASCII characters or hex pairs.
WEP Key 2
For WEP 64, you enter five ASCII characters or five hex pairs. For
WEP 128, you enter 13 ASCII characters or hex pairs.
WEP Key 3
For WEP 64, you enter five ASCII characters or five hex pairs. For
WEP 128, you enter 13 ASCII characters or hex pairs.
WEP Key 4
For WEP 64, you enter five ASCII characters or five hex pairs. For
WEP 128, you enter 13 ASCII characters or hex pairs.
WEP Method for
Station Mode
Determines what happens when station radios (e.g., WAPs, end
devices) connect to a master radio when WEP encryption is enabled.
Open System
A station radio using WEP encryption will not
authenticate the WEP key, which allows it to attach to a master radio
without the same WEP key. A wireless hop is formed, but no
communication is possible.
Shared Key
A station radio using WEP encryption will authenticate
the WEP key, which prevents a station radio from attaching to a master
radio with an incorrect WEP key.
