Chapter 12 Paper Cutter
Standard Cutter (EasyCoder 501 S, E, & SA)
The standard paper cutter is intended to cut through continuous
non-adhesive paper strip or through the liner between labels. It
must not be used to cut through any kind of adhesive or other
soft material, that may stick to the cutting parts and render the
cutter inoperable, which also may be causing damage to the elec-
tric motor.
Maximum paper thickness is 175 µm (175 grammes/m
2
) for
normal paper-based materials.
The Paper Cutter increases the printer’s total weight by approx. 1.0
kg (=2.2 lbs) and its length by 28 mm (1.1 inches).
LinerLess Cutter (EasyCoder 501 LL)
The linerless paper cutter is intended to cut through continuous lin-
erless continuous stock and is provided with a cutting mechanism
that is different from the standard cutter.
The most important differences from the standard cutter are:
• Plasma-coated shears and guides to prevent labels from sticking
to the cutter mechanism.
• Better access to the anvil blade for cleaning.
• Permanent silicon lubrication of the shears.
• A three-fi ngered guide plate that holds the cut off labels.
• A safety switch the prevents the cutter from rotating when the
anvil blade is open.
• A label taken sensor (LTS), that also can be used for media jam
detection.
• An 8-pin DIN connector with wires for both the cutter motor
and the built-in LTS.
Maximum thickness is 175 µm (175 grammes/m
2
) for paper-based
linerless materials.
The Paper Cutter increases the printer’s total weight by approx.
1.0 kgs (=2.2 lbs) and its length by 28 mm (1.1 inches) without the
guide plate and 58 mm (2.3 inches) with the guide plate fi tted at
the front of the cutter.
Both cutters can be tilted forward in order to facilitate cleaning and
media load and also to give access to the optional Memory Card
Adapter.
