4.2 VSC8257 – Quad XFI to SFI PHY
The VSC8257 is a quad XFI to SFI PHY that converts the XFI to SFI and vice
versa. This PHY is only populated on systems that use the CN83xx processor.
Below is a list of the major interfaces for the VSC8257:
•
Four XFI – Connects to the four XFI interfaces of the CN83xx (QLM2).
•
Four SFI – Connects to the four SFP+ cages on the main board.
•
MDIO – Connects to the SMI/MDIO interface of the CN83xx.
