Bandwidth Control
Policing, or rate limiting, allows you to limit the data rates for a particular port on the Intellinet 8‐Port
Gigabit Web‐Smart Switch. When the data rate exceeds user‐configured values, the Intellinet switch drops
packets immediately.
Rate limiting is configured for two types of transmissions, which are ingress and egress. Ingress traffic is
received on any given port (incoming, inbound or download), whereas egress traffic is traffic sent out
(outgoing, outbound or upload) to another network client.
The following table describes the labels in this screen.
LABEL
DESCRIPTION
Port
Select the desired port for rate configuration. Hold down CTRL to select multiple
ports at once.
Type
Select Ingress or Egress from the drop‐down box.
State
Enable or Disable bandwidth control for the selected port. Set this to enable, or
the values will not be saved.
Rate
Select the maximum transmission rate for the selected ports.
Note:
When egress bandwidth control is enabled for one or multiple ports, it is recommended to disable flow
control on each port to ensure that the switch continues to works normally.
