Controller for
12 V or 24 V LEDs

Please read these operating instructions
carefully prior to operation and keep them for
later reference.

1 Applications

The controller CU-3IR is used to control
LEDs or LED chains requiring an operating
voltage between 12 V and 24 V . The max-
imum total power consumption of all LEDs
connected must not exceed 10 A. From the
product range of “img Stage Line”, for exam-
ple, the following items can be operated with
the controller:

LEDL-9/RGB
LEDM-3/RGB
LEDS-5/RGB
LEDS-5MP/RGB
LEDS-5MPL/RGB
LEDS-5WP/RGB

2 Important Notes

The unit corresponds to all required direc-
tives of the EU and is therefore marked with

.

G

The unit is suitable for indoor use only. Pro-
tect it against dripping water and splash
water, high air humidity, and heat (admissi-
ble ambient temperature range 0 – 40 °C).

G

For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth;
never use chemicals or water.

No guarantee claims for the unit and no lia-
bility for any resulting personal damage or
material damage will be accepted if the
unit is used for other purposes than origi-
nally intended, if it is not correctly con-
nected or operated, if it is overloaded or
not repaired in an expert way.

3 Mounting and Connection

1) Fasten the controller via screws at a suit-

able place, if required. Make sure that the
infrared sensor IR (2) will always be visible
when the remote control is used.

2) Connect the LEDs to the terminals OUT-

PUT (1). The total load by the LEDs must
not exceed 10 A; otherwise the controller
will be damaged.

R = negative pole for the red LEDs
G = negative pole for the green LEDs
B = negative pole for the blue LEDs
+ = common positive pole

3) For power supply, a regulated power sup-

ply unit will be required. Adjust the power
supply unit to the voltage required for the
LEDs connected (12 V min., 24 V max.).
The power supply unit must be able to
deliver the current required for operating
the LEDs plus a supply current of 100 mA
for the CU-3IR. Connect the power supply
unit to the contacts INPUT (3).

If the unit is to be put out of operation
definitively, take it to a local recycling
plant for a disposal which is not
harmful to the environment.

4 Operation

4.1 Remote control

1) The remote control is supplied with batter-

ies inserted. An insulating foil between the
batteries and the battery contacts pre-
vents the batteries from being discharged
during storage. Prior to the first operation
remove the foil from the battery support on
the rear side of the remote control. Other-
wise operation of the remote control is not
possible.

2) When pressing a button, always direct the

remote control towards the sensor IR (2).
There must be no obstacles between the
remote control and the sensor.

3) If the range of the remote control de

-

creases, replace the batteries. For this
purpose, on the rear side of the remote
control push the small bar with the groove
to the right and at the same time remove
the battery support.

Two 1.5 V button cells of type CR 2880 are
required. When inserting them, make
shure that for the front button cell, the pos-
itive pole shows upwards and for the rear
button cell, the negative pole shows
upwards.

If the remote control is not used for a

longer period, remove the batteries to pre-
vent damage to the remote control due to
battery leakage.

Dead batteries must not be placed
in the household waste. To pro-
tect the environment, always take
them to a special waste disposal,
e. g. collection container at your
retailer.
