4.7.5 Flash Descriptor Security Override Jumper 

The Flash Descriptor Security Override jumper (TXE_OV1, p=2.00 mm) allows users to 

enable or disable the ME firmware update. Refer to 

Figure 4-19

 and 

Table 4-4

 for the 

jumper location and settings.

To update the ME firmware, please follow the steps below.   

Step 1: 

Before turning on the system power, short pin 2~3 of the Flash Descriptor 

Security Override jumper. 

Step 2: 

Update the BIOS and ME firmware, and then turn off the system power. 

Step 3: 

Remove the metal clip on the Flash Descriptor Security Override jumper to its 

default setting (short 1~2). 

Step 4: 

Restart the system. The system will reboot 2 ~ 3 times to complete the ME 

firmware update.
