B.3 Using Fibre Channel ICP Controllers
Both ICP Controllers for the two nodes should be identical (same model, same firmware
level).
We recommend to use for the shared Fibre Channel loops the ICP Fibre Hub 1016.
This Hub can be split into two independent Hubs with own power supplies and 8 ports per
hub. This configuration should be used if a Dual Loop Configuration is installed.
When choosing an external Fibre Channel enclosure make sure that it is certified for Dual
Loop operation and has DB9 connectors which support MIAs (Media Interface Adapter) for
configuring optical cablings. The same also applies to the DB9 connectors of the Fibre
Channel Hubs .
The appendix lists various enclosure manufacturers whose products have been successfully
tested in our labs.
Unlike the IDs of the Wide/Ultra2 or Ultra 160 SCSI IOPs, the IDs of the Fibre Channel IOPs
of the ICP Controllers are automatically set to different numbers when operated on one
loop.
B.4 Releasing the Cluster Channels
Those channels, which are used as shared channels for Clustering, have to be released and
marked as Clustering Channels within the ICP RAID Console (press <CTRL>+<G> at system
boot level when the ICP BIOS is displayed.).This applies to all ICP Controllers participating
in the shared channel(s).
