command.
4. If the coprocessor is
not
hot-pluggable on your system, log in as a
root
user, type
shutdown -F
at the system prompt, and then press Enter. When
Halt completed
displays, turn off the system power and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Note:
Refer to your system documentation for further shutdown information.
5. Remove the covers of your system by following the instructions in your system
documentation.
6. If the coprocessor is hot-pluggable on your system, follow the instructions under
the
″
Hot Plug Tasks
″
heading in the
″
Introduction to Tasks and Service Aids
″
chapter of the
Diagnostic Information for Multiple Bus Systems
publication.
7. If the coprocessor is not hot-pluggable on your system, refer to your system
documentation and install the coprocessor into an available PCI slot in your
system. Refer to your
PCI Adapter Placement Reference
guide for slot locations.
8. Follow the directions provided in your system documentation to reinstall the covers
of your system, then do one of the following:
v
If the coprocessor is hot-pluggable on your system, go to step 9.
v
If the coprocessor is not hot-pluggable on your system, go to step 10.
9. If the coprocessor is hot-pluggable on your system, do the following:
a. If you use the
pkcsslotd
daemon, start the daemon by typing the following
command:
/etc/rc.pkcs11
.
b. Start any applications that were previously running.
c. You have completed the installation procedure.
10. Plug the power cord into the wall outlet.
11. Turn on the power to your system.
Verifying Coprocessor Hardware Installation
To verify that your system recognizes the coprocessor, do the following:
1. If necessary, log in as
root
user.
2. At the command line, type:
lsdev -Cs pci
3. Press Enter. A list of PCI devices displays. If the coprocessor did install correctly, an
Available
status indicates that the coprocessor is installed and ready for loading
software into the coprocessor.
4. If the message on your screen indicates the coprocessor is
DEFINED
instead of
AVAILABLE
, shut the system down and verify that the hardware is installed correctly.
Go to “Installing the Coprocessor” on page 13. Then, perform the “Verifying
Coprocessor Hardware Installation” procedure again.
Note:
If the message on your screen indicates the coprocessor is
DEFINED
a
second time, you may need to call your service representative.
