• Always wear eye protection during extended periods
of operation.
• Always wear ear protection and a dust mask for
dusty applications and when sanding overhead.
Sanding particles can be absorbed by your eyes and
inhaled easily and may cause health complications.
• Use special precautions when sanding chemically
pressure treated lumber, paint that may be lead
based, or any other materials that may contain
carcinogens. A suitable breathing respirator and
protective clothing .must be worn by all persons entering
the working area. Work area should be sealed by plastic
sheeting and persons not protected should be kept out
until work area is thoroughly cleaned.
• Do not use sandpaper intended for larger sanding
pads. Larger sandpaper will extend beyond the sanding
pad causing snagging, tearing of the paper or kick-back.
Extra paper extending beyond the sanding pan can also
cause serious lacerations.
• Avoid unintentionally switching on the tool. Ensure
that the ON/OFF switch is in the OFF position before
inserting the battery pack. Do not carry the power tool
with your finger on the ON/OFF switch or insert the
battery pack into power tools that have the switch on.
• Use only the original accessories and the other
accessories available for this oscillating tool.
• Do not restart a cutting operation in the workpiece.
To resume a cutting operation: while keeping the tool
from contacting the workpiece, allow the tool reach full
speed and then carefully guide the cutting accessory into
the cut.
WARNING: Some dust created by power sanding,
sawing, grinding, drilling and other construction
activities contains chemicals known to cause cancer,
birth defects or other reproductive harm. Some
examples of these chemicals are:
• Lead from lead-based paints.
• Crystalline silica from bricks, cement and other masonry
products.
• Arsenic and chromium from chemically treated lumber.
Your risk from these exposures varies depending on how
often you do this type of work. To reduce your exposure
to these chemicals, work in a well-ventilated area and
work with approved safety equipment such as dust masks
designed to filter out microscopic particles.
Safety rules for charger / battery
WARNING:
Read and understand all instructions. Failure
to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric
shock, fire, and/or serious personal injury.
• Before using the battery charger, read all
instructions and cautionary markings in this manual
and on the battery charger, the battery, and the
product using the battery to prevent misuse of the
products and possible injury or damage.
CAUTION: To reduce the risk of electric shock or damage
to the charger and battery, charge only those lithium-ion
rechargeable batteries specifically designated on your
charger’s label. Other types of batteries may burst, causing
personal injury or damage.
• Keep the charger away from rain or damp. Water
entering into the charger will increase the risk of an
electrical shock.
• Only use chargers recommended by the
manufacturer to recharge the battery. When using a
charger designated for a particular type of battery, there
is a risk of fire if it is used with other batteries.
• Never use to recharge third-party batteries. The
charger is only designed to charge the supplied batteries
(Li-Ion) using the voltages specified in the Technical
Data. Otherwise there is a risk of fire or explosion.
• Keep the charger clean.
Contamination will increase
the risk of an electrical shock.
• Check the charger, cable and plug each time you
use the unit. Do not use the charger if you find any
f) Maintain tools with care. Keep cutting tools sharp
and clean. Properly maintained tools, with sharp cutting
edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts,
breakage of parts, and any other condition that may
affect the tools operation. If damaged, have the tool
serviced before using. Many accidents are caused by
poorly maintained tools.
h) Use only accessories that are recommended by the
manufacturer for your model. Accessories that may be
suitable for one tool, may become hazardous when used
on another tool.
Service
a) Tool service must be performed only by qualified
repair personnel. Service or maintenance performed by
unqualified personnel could result in a risk of injury.
b) When servicing a tool, use only identical
replacement parts. Follow instructions in the
Maintenance section of this manual. Use of
unauthorized parts or failure to follow Maintenance
Instructions may create a risk of electric shock or injury.
Safety rules for cordless oscillating tools
• Hold power tools by their insulated gripping
surfaces when performing any operation in which
the cutting tool may contact hidden wiring or its own
cord. Contact with a “live” wire will also make exposed
metal parts of the tool “live” and shock the operator. Do
not sawing, fasten or break into existing walls or other
blind areas where electrical wiring may exist. If this
situation is unavoidable, disconnect all fuses or circuit
breakers feeding this worksite.
• Use a suitable detector to determine if there are gas
or water pipes hidden in the work area or call the
local utility company for assistance before beginning
the operation. Striking or cutting into a gas line will result
in explosion. Water entering an electrical device may
cause electrocution.
• Always hold the tool firmly with both hands for
maximum control. Keep proper footing and balance
at all times. This enables better control of the power tool
in unexpected situations.
• Secure the workpiece. A workpiece clamped with
clamping devices or in a vice is held more secure than
by hand.
• Do not wire materials containing asbestos. Asbestos
is considered carcinogenic.
• Keep your workplace clean. Blends of materials are
particularly dangerous. Dust from light alloys can burn or
explode.
• Keep hands away from cutting area. Do not reach
under the material being cut. The proximity of the
blade to your hand is hidden from your sight.
• Do not use dull or damaged blades. Bent blade can
break easily or cause kickback.
• Exercise extreme caution when handing the
accessories. The accessories are very sharp.
• Wear protective gloves when changing cutting
accessories. Accessories become hot after prolonged
usage.
• Use thick cushioned gloves and limit the exposure
time by taking frequent rest periods. Vibration caused
by the tool may be harmful to the hands and arms.
• Before scraping, check workpiece for nails. If there
are nails, either remove them or set them well
below intended finished surface. Striking a nail with
accessory edge could cause the tool to jump.
• Do not wet sand with this tool.
Liquids entering the
motor housing is an electrical shock hazard.
• Never work in area which is soaked with a liquid,
such as a solvent or water, or damaged such as
newly applied wallpaper. There is an electrical shock
hazard when working in such conditions with a power tool
and heating of the liquid caused by scraping action may
cause harmful vapors to be emitted from workpiece.
