Combus
tion
exhaust can contain carbon monoxide and
must be properly vented
outside.
Breathing abnormal amounts of carbon monoxide can result in seri-

the boiler vent termina

any air intake devices

These fans can
pick up the exhaust
flue
products from the boiler and return them to the
building.

can create a health hazar

• Locate the vent termina
tion
so that it cannot be blocked by any debris, at any
time.
Most codes
require that the termina
tion
must be at leas
t 12 in.
(305 mm) above grade and an
ticip
ated snow
level, but the installer may determine if it should be higher depending on the job site c
ondition
and applicable c
odes.
• A proper sidewall termina
tion
is required when the boiler is vented through a sidew
all.
