8.2 Changing the filter element
Filter elements wear out due to the absorption of solid particles
and / or dissolved water in the fluid. The service life of a filter
element depends on the solid particle contamination in the
fluid / dissolved water and also the filtration rating. The separa-
tion power decreases with increasing accumulation of solid
particles / water in the filter element. This causes the differen-
tial pressure over the filter element to increase steadily over
time and can be detected electrically or visually by means of,
for example, a clogging indicator. If the differential pressure ex-
ceeds the permissible pressure Δp of the filter element, the el-
ement may burst. Monitor and replace the filter element period-
ically.
In this chapter, you will find the procedure for changing the fil-
ter element. The following filter elements are available for the
filter unit:

Leakages at the filter bowl.

Never operate the filter unit without a filter element or an
empty element inserted.
The filter element / empty element has two seal rings (901) +
(902) installed. Before assembly, check for damage and also
for the correct placement of the seal rings (901)+(902).
