Checks and maintenance steps for winter operation

If you use the motorcycle in winter, salt can be expected on the roads. You should therefore take pre-
cautions against aggressive road salt.
If the vehicle has been used on salted roads, use cold water for cleaning after riding. Warm water
enhances the corrosive effects of salt.

the brake calipers and brake linings, after they have
cooled down and without removing them, with cold
water and dry them carefully.
After riding on salted roads, thoroughly clean the vehi-
cle with cold water and dry it well.

Treat the engine, link fork, and all other bare or zinc-plated
parts (except the brake discs) with a wax-based corrosion
inhibitor.

Corrosion inhibitor must not come in contact with the
brake discs as this would greatly reduce the braking
force.
