Some libraries or dealers may have chosen to limit the functionality of your Victor Reader
Classic.  If your player is operating in limited mode, then the following keys will behave
differently:

The four

Navigation

arrow keys will be disabled. No audible beep will be heard when pressing

these keys.

Tapping the

Fast-Forward

 and

Rewind

 keys will not activate the

Undo/Redo

 features. Only a

beep will be played when pressing these keys.

The Bookmark function will be disabled. Instead, the

Bookmark

key will be used as a

Sleep

 key.

Each successive keypress will activate a 15, 30, 45, 60 or OFF (default is OFF) minute delay
until Victor Reader will automatically power Off.

The

Info

key will not have the Sleep function for normal player operation.

NOTE:

If you have a limited player and wish to restore the extended functions please contact

your dealer or library.

1.4 Powering On Victor Reader

To turn the unit On, press and hold the

Power

key. You will hear a beep and a welcome message.

To turn the unit Off, press and hold the

Power

key again. You will hear two beeps indicating the

unit is powering Off.

1.5 Batteries

The batteries are rated for approximately 500 recharge cycles. In a normal condition the fully
charged batteries can last up to 5 hours for continuous play of DAISY books. However the
battery playtime may be reduced in the following cases:

If the batteries are charged for less than 11 hours.

Extensive use of book navigation commands.

Non DAISY CD’s take more power and play for about 2 hours on battery.

High Volume Level or High Speed reading.

NOTE:

When the unit is not connected to a power outlet, and staying in pause mode for more

than 30 minutes, it will shut Off automatically to save battery life.

NOTE:

For safety reasons, the battery compartment is sealed. Only HumanWare or an

authorized service center must replace batteries.
