HOW TO PLAY
IDEA AND AIM OF THE GAME
Hägar is a tossing game from Finland, which is played in the open air and needs
a reasonably large area without obstacles because the game field expands in
the course of the game. There are at least two players who try to reach a point
number of exactly 50 by tactically shrewd knocking over of the pirate characters
using the king figure.
GAME PREPARATION
At the start, a throw line is fixed. Then the pirates are set up at a distance of 3
to 4 meters from the throw line (depending on the desired difficulty) in
accordance with Fig. 2 and 3.
GAME PLAY
Before the start of the first pass, lots are drawn to determine which player
starts. Each player has one throw per round, to knock over pirates with the king
figure. After every throw by a player, the pirates will be set up again at precisely
the point where they came to rest after being knocked over. This determines the
typical space required for this game. Then it‘s the next player’s turn. The score
is calculated after each round and defines the throwing sequence for the next
round. The player with the lowest score starts the next round and, accordingly,
the player with the highest score closes the round.
POINT CALCULATION
If only one pirate gets knocked over, the player gets the point value specified on
that pirate. If several pirates get knocked over, the player receives the number of
all the pirates that fell as hit points (2-12). The point value of the pirate plays no
role, and each knocked-over pirate counts 1 point. Pirates which are supporting
each other or lying on other pirates are not counted. If no pirate falls, the throw
receives a score of 0 points. Three consecutive misses lead to the elimination of
the player. Crossing over the throwing line also counts as a failed throw.
If a player gets more than 50 points, their points are reset to 25 points and they
play on as normal with this number of points. If a player achieves exactly 50
points, they win the game. The remaining players can play on for the other
rankings.
USAGE INSTRUCTIONS
The tossing game Hägar can be played anywhere: on the grass, on the beach, in
the snow or on concrete. Be aware that depending on the surface type chosen
for play, the wooden pieces may be damaged. More delicate surfaces may also
be damaged (scratches, etc) during game play.
MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
Use a dry or damp cloth only to clean the product; do not use special cleaning
agents! Check the product for damage or traces of wear and tear before and
after each use. Do not make any structural changes. For your own safety, please
use original spare parts only. These can be sourced from HUDORA. If parts be-
come damaged or if sharp edges or corners should develop, the product may not
be used any more. If in any doubt, please contact our service team (http://www.
hudora.de/service/). Store the product in a safe place where it is protected from
the elements, cannot be damaged, and cannot injure anyone.
DISPOSAL ADVICE
At the end of the product’s life, please dispose of it at an appropriate collection
point in your area. Local waste management companies will be able to answer
your questions on this.
