Introduction
1.1 Positioning
With the rise in consciousness towards protecting the environment and the increase in lease
cost, site acquisition for base stations has become a challenge during network deployment,
rendering it increasingly difficult for operators to deploy new sites.
The distributed NodeB (DBS3800) features high integration, easy installation, and low power
consumption. All these features facilitate site selection and 2G/3G co-siting.
The DBS3800 is a distributed NodeB system developed in compliance with the protocols of
3GPP R99/R4/R5/R6/R7/R8 FDD.
The DBS3800 uses the Remote Radio Head (RRH) technology, which separates the baseband
unit (BBU) from the remote radio unit (RRU) in a traditional base station, thus implementing
separate installation, capacity expansion, and evolution for these two modules.
The BBU and the RRU are connected with optical cables through the Common Public Radio
Interface (CPRI). This facilitates site acquisition, equipment room deployment, and device
transportation and installation.
Figure 1-1 shows the components of the DBS3800.
