User manual
INTRODUCTION
This manual covers the installation of the heat interface unit and the relative applicable instructions. These
must be followed to ensure the proper and trouble-free operation of the heat interface unit. You will also
find general technical details and information about maintenance, any errors occurring and their possible
causes. This document forms part of the heat interface unit and must be kept with the interface unit.
APPLICATION
The interface unit is used in collective heat distribtuion systems. This interface unit is suitable for both
heating and preparing domestic hot water. The water that runs through the different systems connected to
the interface unit needs to meet the water quality standards mentioned in document 53261 “Requirements
on water quality for Heat Interface Units for District Heating systems”. The interface unit needs to suffi ce
with the IWUN guidelines 06283 and 06285 and the NEN2768 standard.
STATUS INDICATION LED LIGHT OF THE INTERFACE UNIT
General
Flashing blue
: Interface unit is in hot domestic water position
Flashing red
: Interface unit failure
Continuously white (only for heat supplier)
: Interface unit is in service mode
No LED
: Interface unit off
Interface unit with room thermostat connection cable and with priority
Flashing green slowly (approx. once per second) : Interface unit in rest position; there is no heat demand
and the CH control valve is closed.
Flashing green quickly (approx. twice per second) : Interface unit in CH position; there is heat demand and
the CH control valve is open.
Interface unit without room thermostat connection cable or priority switching
Flashing green slowly (approx. once per second) : Interface unit in rest or CH position.
OPERATION
Central heating system
The interface unit is fitted with a differential pressure regulator that keeps the differential pressure
constant throughout the CH installation. The differential pressure ensures continuous flow of heat from the
district heating network through the CH installation.
Room thermostat connection
A (smart) room thermostat can optionally be connected to the heat interface unit. The interface unit will
then respond to heat demand from the room thermostat. The connection of a room thermostat is not
necessary for the proper operation of the interface unit. A conductor is connected to the thermostat
connection cable ex-works (default). This conductor ensures a closed contact and therefore ensures heat
demand at the interface unit.
Note!
Only (smart) on/off room thermostats can be connected which have a potential-free contact or the
Honeywell round on/off (T87G2014) type thermostat with power-stealing technology. Thermostats without
a potential-free contact and/or not of the on/off type are explicitly not allowed.
Note!
High temperatures of parts in the interface unit, pipework and radiators
The interface unit is designed for district heating networks with water temperatures to 95 ºC. The pipework
and parts in the interface unit as well as pipework and radiators in the CH installation can reach this
temperature. Contact can result in burns.
