Description of Operation
The EKRXGSM is a self-contained quad band GSM data module seamlessly integrated with the standalone
range of E-Key receivers. The unique pairing of these technologies allows unparalleled flexibility in the
remote operation and management of access control for any number applications.
The EKRXGSM enables any gate/door or alarm panel to be triggered by both E-Keys and mobile or fixed
telephones. Provided the caller ID of the originating call is validated, a gate or similar apparatus can be
activated remotely at no cost to the caller. No cost because the EKRXGSM does not need to answer the call
to be able to determine if the caller’s number is valid. Alternatively, an SMS containing a correct password
can be sent to the EKRXGSM and will cause it to trigger the E-Key receiver.
Instructions
All configuration can be made via a PC based application with a GSM modem connected to the PC. The
following instructions relate to the configuration possible solely using SMS commands from a mobile phone.
To trigger the E-Key receiver’s outputs by telephone call
Use a landline or mobile telephone to call the EKRXGSM. Hang up after hearing a ring tone for about 2
seconds. If the caller ID of the telephone is recognised by the EKRXGSM, it will command the connected E-
Key receiver to trigger the equivalent output as would occur if a valid E-Key button were pressed. Since the
call was never answered, there will be no call costs associated with the transaction.
To trigger the E-Key receiver by SMS from a recognized mobile telephone
Send an SMS message to the EKRXGSM in the following format:
Bx
•
x
is the equivalent E-Key button number from 1…4
If the caller ID associated with the SMS is recognized by the EKRXGSM, it will command the connected E-
Key receiver to trigger the equivalent output as would occur if the similarly numbered button of a valid E-Key
were pressed. Eg: Sending the SMS “B3” will cause the E-Key receiver to trigger the equivalent output as
would occur if button 3 of a valid E-Key were pressed.
To trigger the E-Key receiver by SMS from an unrecognized mobile telephone
Send an SMS message to the EKRXGSM in the following format:
smspass,Bx
•
smspass
is a 5…8 character case sensitive alphanumeric user password
•
x
is the equivalent E-Key button number from 1…4
If the SMS password is recognized by the EKRXGSM, it will command the connected E-Key receiver to
trigger the equivalent output as would occur if the xth button of a valid E-Key were pressed. Eg: Sending the
SMS “sesame,B3” will cause the E-Key receiver to trigger the equivalent output as would occur if button 3 of a
valid E-Key were pressed, provided the password “sesame” is listed as a valid SMS password.
