k.

Monitor the task progress to verify that it is complete.

6.

Open the drive drawer by pressing the drive drawer handle release latch and pulling the drive drawer

handle until the drawer is fully extended.

7.

Install drives back into the same bay position starting from the rear of the drive drawer (highest bay

number) first.

CAUTION:

Installing drives prior to replacing the storage module in OneView might result in

data loss by exposing the drives as candidates to be included in the newly created Server

Profiles.

8.

Close the drive drawer until it clicks in the closed position, and then close the drive drawer handle.

9.

In OneView, navigate to the SAS Logical Interconnect page and verify the Logical JBOD state.
If the Logical JBOD state is critical and the SAS Logical Interconnect is indicating an OK status,

power on the servers and the condition should clear on the Logical JBOD.

Removing and replacing drives

The D3940 storage module supports up to 40 SFF drives.

IMPORTANT:

For proper cooling, drives must be populated from back to front. Bays 33-40

must be populated first and bays 1-8 must be populated last. Drive blanks are not required for

storage modules that are not fully populated.

To remove a drive:

1.

Determine the status of the drive from the Drive LED definitions.

2.

Back up all compute module data.

3.

Press the drive drawer release latch and open the drawer with the drive drawer release handle.

IMPORTANT:

The D3940 Storage Module should be closed within five minutes. The drawer

status LED blinks amber any time the drawer is open for longer than five minutes. To clear this

condition, close the drawer for at least one minute to allow time for the drives to cool off.
