Client filter MAC address
Specify a MAC address for WLAN client filtering. Note that the MAC filter is active only when
a trace is performed on the radio1 interface.
Note
Changes to packet trace settings take effect after a packet trace is restarted. Modifying the
parameters while a packet trace is running does not affect the current packet trace session. To
begin using new parameter values, an existing packet trace session must be stopped and
restarted.
Packet file trace
In packet file trace mode, the HP 501 stores captured packets in a file on the device.
Upon activation, the packet trace proceeds until one of the following occurs:
•
The trace time reaches the configured duration.
•
The trace file reaches its maximum size.
•
The administrator stops the trace.
During the trace, you can monitor the trace status, elapsed trace time, and the current trace file
size. You can click
Refresh to update this information while the trace is in progress.
Performing a packet file trace
To perform a packet file trace.
1. Select Tools > Network trace .
2. Select a
Trace interface
. The following HP 501 interfaces are available for packet trace:
•
brtrunk : Traffic on the bridge interface destined to the management IP address.
•
eth0 : 802.3 traffic on the Ethernet port.
•
radio1 : Traffic on the radio captured in 802.11 format. Captured 802.11 traffic may be
encrypted, based on the configured security settings.
•
wlan0 : Traffic on the radio captured in 802.3 format. Captured 802.3 traffic is
unencrypted.
