Processor
Removing a Processor
WARNING:
To reduce the risk of personal injury from hot surfaces, allow the internal system
components to cool before touching.
To remove the processor:
1.
Perform the steps in the “Service Preparations” section as previously shown.
CAUTION:
Before removing the workstation access panel, ensure that the workstation is
turned off, all cables are disconnected from the back of the workstation, and the power cord is
disconnected from the grounded AC outlet.
2.
Remove the workstation access panel.
CAUTION:
If two processors are installed and the primary processor needs replacing, the
secondary processor
must
be removed before removing the primary processor. Failure to do so
may cause damage to the primary processor.
3.
Pull out the retaining tabs on each side of the processor

, and then lift the processor out
of the socket

To install a new processor, reverse the above procedure.
NOTE:
Before installing a processor, be sure the release latches are in the locked (out) position. This will
cause the latches to click into place when the processor is properly seated.
