2.4.2 CHIPSET
The chipset consists of a Memory Controller Hub (GMCH) or Graphics Memory Controller Hub
(GMCH), an enhanced I/O controller hub (ICH), and a firmware hub (FWH). Table 2-3 compares
the functions provided by the chipsets.

Input/output functions not provided by the chipset are handled by other support components.
Some of these components also provide “housekeeping” and various other functions as well.
