
Connecting a CD-ROM Drive to the HP 81200 System

1. Shutdown the HP 81200 System
2. Check the CD-ROM drives SCSI ID Number. It should be in the range from 0 to 6. Recommended
SCSI ID Number for the CD-ROM Drive is 3.
3. Remove the SCSI terminator, actually connected to the SCSI connector of the embedded
controller. It is recommended to connect this SCSI terminator to the second SCSI connector of the
CD-ROM drive.
4. Connect the CD-ROM Drive to the HP 81200 System by a 50 pin high density SCSI cable.
5. Connect the CD-ROM Drive to the line power, and switch it on, if necessary (some drives are
automatically powered when connected to line power).
6. Now switch on the HP 81200 System.
7. When the boot process has finished you can verify whether the CD-ROM Drive was recognized by
opening the Windows NT Explorer and checking whether a E: drive with a CD-ROM icon is
present, see figure on next page.
