Serial Numbers
A ttached to the fron t frame of the mo dule is a serial-n um b er lab el. The serial n um b er is in
t w o parts. The rst four digits and letter are the serial n um b er prex; the last v e digits are
the sux. See Figure 1-1. The prex is the same for all iden tical mo dules; it only c hanges
when a c hange is made to the mo dule. The sux, ho w ev er, is assigned sequen tially and is
dieren t for eac h mo dule. The con ten ts of this man ual apply to mo dules with the serial
n um b er prexes listed under \Serial Num b ers" on the man ual title page.

Initial Inspection
Insp ect the shipping con tainer for damage. If the shipping con tainer or cushioning material
is damaged, it should b e k ept un til the con ten ts of the shipmen t ha v e b een c hec k ed for
completeness and the mo dule has b een c hec k ed mec hanically and electrically . Refer to
\Accessories" b elow to nd out what is shipp ed with the HP 70907A/B .
If the shipping con ten ts are not complete, or the mo dule do es not pass the v erication
pro cedures (refer to Chapter 4), notify the nearest Hewlett-Pac k ard oce. If the shipping
con tainer is damaged, or the cushioning material sho ws signs of stress, notify the carrier as
w ell as the Hewlett-Pac k ard oce. Keep the shipping materials for the carrier's insp ection.
The Hewlett-Pac k ard oce will arrange for repair or replacemen t without w aiting for claim
settlement.
