Flying
Always avoid flying near houses, trees, wires and
buildings. You should also be careful to avoid flying
in areas where there are many people, such as busy
parks, schoolyards, or soccer fields. Consult local
laws and ordinances before choosing a location to fly
your aircraft. We recommend only flying your Beast
in light winds.
The Beast may be flown indoors (by an advanced
pilot), but only in a large space such as an indoor
running track with a high ceiling.
Set all control surfaces at
low rate
. Place the Beast in
position for takeoff (facing into
the wind). Gradually increase
the throttle to ¾ to full, and
steer with the rudder. Pull
back gently with the elevator
and climb to check trim. Once
the trim is adjusted, begin
exploring the flight envelope of the Beast.
The Beast is equipped with Over Current Protection
(OCP). This feature protects the ESC from overheating.
OCP stops the motor when the transmitter throttle is
set high and the propeller cannot turn. The OCP will
only activate when throttle is positioned just above
1/2 throttle. After the ESC stops the motor, fully lower
the throttle to re-arm the ESC.
Note: Always fully lower the throttle when the aircraft
lands to prevent damage to the ESC.
Note: Crash damage is not covered under warranty.
Repairs
Thanks to the Beast’s construction, repairs to the
foam can be made using foam-safe CA or tape. When
parts are not repairable, see the Replacement Parts
List for ordering by item number.
Flying Tips and Repairs
Always
decrease throttle at
propeller strike.
Adjusting Center of Gravity (CG)
The CG location is 18mm back from leading edge of the bottom wing at the root.
CG may be found by putting a razor blade in a vise with the edge up. Momentarily balance the bottom of the
aircraft on the razor’s edge.
Note: The battery tray is oversized to allow for Center of Gravity adjustment. Start by placing the battery at
the front edge of the battery tray with the plug facing the rear of the aircraft. Adjust as needed by sliding the
battery back or forward You may also turn the pack 180 degrees, bringing the plug to the front. Extra wire
length has been provided for that purpose.
