ENGINE O I L  A N D  F I LTER 

Engine  oil  q uality  is  the  chief  fa ctor 

affe cting  engine  service  life .   Change  the 

engine oil and filter when specifi e d  by  the 

maintenance sch e d u l e. 

NOT E :  

Change  the  engine  oil  and  filter  with 
the  engine  warm  and  t h e   motorcycle 

on  i t s   center  stand  to  assure  complete 
a n d  rapi d  draining.

Cylinder  head oil drain plug

Engine bottom oil d rain plug 

(3) 

Sealing washers 

I .  

To  drain  the  oil,  remove  the  oil  filler 

cap ,  cylinder  h e ad  oil  d rain  p lug 

( 1 )  

and engine  b ot t o m   oil drain  plug 

( 2 ) .  

2 . 

Remove  t h e   o i l   filter  ( 4)  with  a  filter 

wrench  and  l e t   the  re m aining  oil 
drain out.  Discard the oil filter  (4 ). 

3 .  

Apply  a  thJn  coat  of  engi n e   oil  t o   the 

n e w  oil filter ru b ber seal 

( 5 ). 

4.  Install  the  n e w   oil  fil t e r   a n d   tigh t en  it 

to the  specified torque.
