CONNECTING ROD BIG END SIDE CLEARANCE

CONNECTING ROD BIG END OIL CLEARANCE

1.Clean all oil from the crankpin and connecting rod big end 

surfaces.

2.Place a piece of plastigauge on the crankpin, install the 

connecting rod and cap, and tighten the bolts to the specified 

torque.

TORQUE: 12 N•m (9 ft•lb)

Note:

Do not rotate the crankshaft while the plastigauge is in place.

3.Remove the connecting rod and measure the plastigauge.

4.If the clearance exceeds the service limit, replace the 

connecting rod and recheck the clearance.

Replacement connecting rods are available with standard and 

undersized bearing surfaces.
