10 Troubleshooting
Problem
Possible cause
Solution
Motor does not start
1. No mains voltage.
2. Undervoltage relay was triggered
by a short voltage drop.
3. Motor overheated due to blunt
planing knife, excessive load,
chip accumulation in housing.
4. Carbon brushes worn out.
1. Have check the power connection,
plug, socket, cable and fuse by qua-
lified personnel
2.Switch on again.
3. Remove the cause of the overhea-
ting, allow the planer to cool for a
few minutes and then switch it on
again.
4. Replace the carbon brushes.
Performance decreases
Plane knives are blunt.
Replace the planing knives.
Machined surface too rough
1. Planing knife blunt.
2. Planing knife clogged by chips.
3. Workpiece still contains too much
moisture.
1. Insert sharp planing knives.
2. Remove chips.
3. Dry the workpiece.
Machined surface cracked
1. Planing knife blunt.
2. Planing knife clogged by chips..
3. The workpiece has been machi-
ned against the direction of
growth.
4 Too much material planed off in
one operation.
1. Insert sharp planing knives.
2. Remove chips.
3. Machining the workpiece from the
direction opposite to it
4. Machine the workpiece in several
operations.
Workpiece feed too low
1. Workpiece contact surface is
dirty.
2. Thicknessing table rollers difficult
to move.
1. Clean contact surface, oil lightly.
2. Replace thicknessing table rol-
lers.
Workpiece is jammed
Too much material was planed off at
once.
Machining the workpiece in several
operations.
