7.1 Troubleshootings Related to the Operations Introduced in This Guide

This section describes how to cope with the troubles which you might encounter while doing the operations introduced in this
guide book, such as an abnormal reaction of GS4000 or communication glitches.

Check if a power cable is connected to GS4000 correctly.
See the GS4000 Hardware Installation Guide again.
Check if a power switch or breaker of GS4000 is set to ON.
If not, set them to ON.
GS4000 cannot be
powered on.
Check if a breaker of the power facility is set to ON.
If not, set it to ON.
GS4000 does not
start up.
GS4000 stopped
running, showing its LED
(on its front panel) lit in
red.
An error is found in GS4000. For details, see the GS4000 Software Manual
Operations - Device Management Overview and the GS4000 Software Manual
Message Log Reference.
When a redundant basic control unit (BCU) is
installed, BCU1 is activated as the
redundant/backup BCU.
Is the GS4000 powered correctly?
The power supply should be reset, by cycling all the switches of the GS4000 to
“OFF” and then back to “ON” .Regarding the procedure for powering up the
GS4000, see Section "3.1 GS4000 Setup".
Check if a cable is connected to a setup terminal correctly. Use a RS-232C
cross cable for connecting GS4000 to a setup terminal.
Console does not
work.
Nothing is shown on the
screen of a setup
terminal.
Check if the parameters for communication software are set correctly.
For details, see the section “2.3 Preparation for Necessary Equipments”.
Check if a memory card is installed correctly. Power off GS4000 and reinstall a
memory card into it. After doing this, power on GS4000 again.
GS4000 stopped
running, showing the
number “20” in the
STATUS CODE area.
Check if software is installed into a memory card. If not, do it referring to the
installation guide provided with software.
The umber “22” is
shown in the STATUS
CODE area.
Check if all the power switches and breakers of GS4000 are set to ON.
If not, set them to ON.
You see some kind
of information
shown in the
STATUS CODE
area after GS4000
is started up.
The information other
than above is shown in
the STATUS CODE
area.

The LINK LED of a
network interface board
is not lit.
Check if an interface cable is connected to GS4000 correctly.
For details about the types of cables to be used, see the chapter “3. Preparing
Interface Cables and Terminals” of the GS4000 Hardware Installation Guide.
Check if configuration information is set correctly. Check the contents shown
as the result of doing the operations introduced in the section “5.2. (3) Check
configuration information you input”
.
If you want to edit configuration
information, do it referring to the section “8.2 Editing of Configuration
Informatio”.
The communication
with other devices
is not possible.
The LINK LED of a
network interface board
is lit.
Check if the VLAN information, an IP address and the routing protocols related
to the device connected to GS4000 is set correctly. If not, do it referring to the
manuals for the device connected to GS4000.
