Connecting to a LAN

For connection of the 

VIP

 to a 10BASE-T network a standard UTP/Cat5 

cable with RJ45 connector has to be plugged into the receptacle labelled 

Ethernet/UTP at the rear side of the unit. The connection to the Ethernet 

network can be made directly or via a hub. The green LINK LED at the rear 

panel of the 

VIP

 unit is on as soon as the connection to the network is phy-

sically correct and synchronized with the LAN. Check the cable or see 

appendix B for troubleshooting.

The yellow TX-LED above the LINK LED is lit whenever 

VIP

 is transmitting a 

packet over the network.
