SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS

1.1

Warning

– To reduce the risk of fire, electric

shock, or injury:
– Do not leave appliance when plugged in. Unplug
from outlet when not in use and before servicing.
– Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces.
– Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is
necessary when used by or near children.
– Use only as described in this manual. Use only
manufacturer’s recommended attachments.
– Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If appli-
ance is not working as it should, has been dropped,
damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water,
return it to a service center.
– Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle,
close a door on cord, or pull cord around sharp
edges or corners. Do not run appliance over cord.
Keep cord away from heated surfaces.
– Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug,
grasp the plug, not the cord.
– Do not handle plug or appliance with wet hands.
– Do not put any object into openings. Do not use
with any opening blocked, keep free of dust, lint,
hair, and anything that may reduce air flow.
– Do not pick up anything that is burning or smok-
ing, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.
– Do not use without dust bag and/or filters in
place.
– Turn off all controls before unplugging.
– Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
– Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible
liquids such as gasoline or use in areas where they
may be present.
For a grounded appliance: “Connect to a properly
grounded outlet only. See Grounding Instructions.

2. Work area

2.1

Keep your work area clean and well lit.

Clut-

tered benches and dark areas invite accidents.
2.2

Do not operate power tools or electric appli-

ances in explosive atmospheres, such as in the
presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.

Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust
or fumes.
2.3

Keep bystanders, children and visitors away

while operating a power tool.

Distractions can

cause you to lose control.

3. Electrical safety

3.1

Grounded tools and electric appliances must be

plugged into an outlet properly installed and
grounded in accordance with all codes and ordi-
nances. Never remove the grounding prong or mod-
ify the plug in any way. Do not use any adaptor
plugs. Check with a qualified electrician if you are
in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly ground-
ed.

If the tools or applicances should electrically mal-

function or break down, grounding provides a low
resistance path to carry electricity away from the
user.
3.2

Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces

such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators.

There is an increased risk of electric shock if your
body is grounded.
3.3

Don’t expose power tools or electric appli-

ances to rain or wet conditions.

Water entering a

power tool or appliance will increase the risk of
electric shock.
3.4

Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord to

carry the tools or pull the plug from an outlet. Keep
the cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or mov-
ing parts. Replace damaged cords immediately.

Damaged cords increase the risk of electric shock.
3.5

When operating a power tool or electric appli-

ance outside, use an outdoor extension cord
marked «W-A» or «W».

These cords are rated for

outdoor use and reduce the risk of electric shock.

4. Personal safety

4.1

Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use

1. WARNING!
Read and understand all instructions.

Failure to follow all instructions listed below may
result in electric shock, fire and/or serious personal
injury.
