16.2 Cleaning
and
disinfecting the haematocrit rotor
If despite all precautions a leakage of haematocrit capillaries during centrifugation should occur, rotor and lid must be
cleaned according to the following instructions:
1. Carefully remove padded shells or sealing ring from the haematocrit rotor.
2. Soak haematocrit rotor, lid and padded shells or sealing ring in cold water, until the blood residues are
completely dissolved.
3. Perform a suitable disinfection. For disinfection we recommend Helipur
®
H plus N from the company B. Braun
Melsungen. For the removal of radioactive material we recommend decon neutracon
®
from the company Decon
Laboratories Limited. The application of disinfection substances on the lid is to be avoided as the inscription can
dissolve.
4. Rinse the components in cold water and dry them.
5. They can now be replaced into the centrifuge.
16.3
Procedure in case of broken haematocrit capillaries
Risk of injury!
Best work with two pairs of gloves worn on top of each other. Wear safety goggles and mask, as glass
splinters could be blown off!
1. Carefully remove lid of haematocrit rotor.
2. Remove larger pieces of broken capillaries using pincers.
3. Remove rotor. Carefully and slowly remove the affected padded shells or the sealing ring with pincers and
exchange them.
4. Clean and disinfect as described above.

1. Open the lid and disconnect the centrifuge from the power supply.
2. Remove the rotor lid by pressing the press lock.
3. Unscrew the fixing nut with the supplied spanner.
4. Pull the haematocrit rotor off the motor shaft.
