4. Instructions for use
4.1 Follow these steps if you are connecting
the Reanimator to a battery
WARNiNG
Sparks in the vicinity of a battery can
cause it to explode.
To reduce the risk of sparks developing
in the vicinity of the battery:
4.1.1
Connect the output cable with the bat-
tery and car body as indicated below. Ensure
that the clamps on the output cable never
touch each other.
4.1.2
Position the DC cables so that they can
not be damaged by the bonnet, the door,
moving parts or hot engine parts.
Please note:
If it is necessary to shut the bonnet
when jump-starting, ensure that the
bonnet does not touch the metal parts
of the battery poles and that it does not
damage the insulation of the cables.
4.1.3
Stay clear of fan blades, belts, belt pul-
leys and other parts which may cause injury.
4.1.4
Determine which battery pole is earthed
(connected) via the vehicle body. If the nega-
tive pole is earthed via the vehicle body (as
with most vehicles), follow step 4.1.5. If the
positive pole is earthed via the vehicle body,
follow step 4.1.6.
4.1.5
In the case of vehicles which are
earthed via the negative battery pole, con-
nect the PLUS clamp (RED) of the Reanima-
tor with the non-earthed PLUS pole (POS, P,
+) on the vehicle battery. Connect the MINUS
clamp (BLACK) with the vehicle body or the
engine block at a position away from the
battery. Do not connect the clamp with the
carburettor, a fuel line or parts of the sheet
metal panelling. Instead, connect the clamp
with a stable metal part of the frame or the
engine block.
4.1.6
In the case of vehicles which are earthed
via the positive battery pole, connect the MI-
NUS clamp (BLACK) of the Reanimator with
the non-earthed MINUS pole (NEG, N, -) on
the vehicle battery. Connect the PLUS clamp
(RED) with the vehicle body or the engine
block at a position away from the battery. Do
not connect the clamp with the carburettor,
a fuel line or parts of the sheet metal panel-
ling. Instead, connect the clamp with a stable
metal part of the frame or the engine block.
4.1.7
When disconnecting the Reanimator,
first disconnect the clamp from the vehicle
body and then the clamp from the battery
pole.
