1 .14 Important unit components
2 .0 Assembly
The KWL compact unit is designed for installation inside an apartment/residential unit e.g. above the WC cistern or for
installation in a cabinet.
When installing the unit, the correct alignment of the air connections (supply air, extract air) must be ensured. The unit
may need to be converted or rotated. The unit is designed for “hanging” installation to a wall or in plasterboard.
It must be ensured that there is a wastewater connection in the installation area. In this respect, please observe the
notes in section 2.3 “Condensation outlet”!
Installation should take place in such a way to enable preferably short ventilation ducts and their trouble-free connection
to the unit. Tight bends can lead to increased pressure loss and flow noise. The ventilation pipes must never be kinked.
The attachment to the connection spigots must be firm and tight. With regard to maintenance and installation work, the
unit and the internal terminal box must be freely accessible.
Important notes:
1 . Access to the terminal box is only possible by removing the heat exchanger, first remove the door .
2 . If an external pre-heater or auxiliary heater is installed, the duct must be at least 1 m before and after the
heater battery from non-flammable material (see functional layout Fig .16) .
3 . The heater must be installed in such a way that the electric box is easily accessible .
4 . In order to avoid sound transmissions, a suitable acoustic insulation must be planned on site depending
upon the structure .
5 . When installing the KWL compact unit, a sufficiently accessible revision area must be provided . There must
be min . 10 cm clearance above and below the unit for maintenance work (e .g . in drywall construction) .
6 . The installation must only take place only in frost-protected areas, since there is a risk of freezing . The room
temperature must not fall below +5 °C .
