USING YOUR HRSS-2.1 RADIO SYSTEM FOR THE FIRST TIME

5

Binding the Radio System:

The process of allowing communication to occur between a 2.4GHz transmitter and receiver is

called “binding” (sometimes referred to as “matching” or “pairing”). Your vehicle and transmitter

should be bound from the factory, however if for some reason it is not, or if you have had to replace

either your transmitter or ERS Unit, simply follow the steps below to re-bind the transmitter and ERS

unit.

1.  On your vehicle, locate the bind button near the On/Off switch.

2.  Press the bind button and turn the vehicle On.

3.  On your transmitter, locate the bind button on the control panel.

4.  Press the bind button and turn the transmitter On.

5.  The LED’s on both the transmitter and ERS unit will flash quickly at first then the LED On the

ERS unit will change to a slow blink. This indicates the binding process is complete.

6.  Power cycle (turn Off, then On again) the transmitter and vehicle and confirm proper function.

Setting the Trims:

1.  Turn the transmitter ON and ensure the LED is lit SOLID indicating the batteries are supplying

adequate voltage for proper operation.

2.  Ensure your vehicle battery is fully charged, installed and connected, then turn ON your vehicle.

3.  Setting the throttle trim

a.  If the wheels spin in a forward direction when the trigger is in the neutral position, turn

down the trim until the motor stops by pressing the (-) button.

b.  If the wheels spin in a reverse direction when the trigger is in the neutral position, turn up

the trim until the motor stops by pressing the (+) button.

c.  There will be a “dead band” area where the trim can be adjusted a slight amount in either

direction and the wheels will not begin to move. It is ideal to have the trim set in the middle

of this “dead band”.

d.  The LED will flash when you have reached the center point of the trim setting range on the

transmitter.

4.  Setting the steering trim

a.  With your vehicle and transmitter turned on (and properly responding to transmitter

inputs), set the vehicle down on the ground and slowly accelerate in a direction directly

away from you. If the vehicle veers slightly either to the left or right, stop the vehicle and

adjust the Steering Trim in the opposite direction of the veer in small increments, one but-

ton press at a time.

i.  Press the L (-) button to increase LEFT trim.

ii.  Press the R (+) button to increase RIGHT trim.

iii.  The LED will flash when you have reached the center point of the trim setting range

on the transmitter.

b.  Reset the vehicle and re-test; adjust the trim as needed until the vehicle travels in a

straight line while the transmitter wheel remains at center location (“hands-off”).

ADVANCED FEATURES

Your HRSS-2.1 radio system includes some new advanced features that go beyond the basics to

improve your experience with your vehicle now and through future upgrades.

Beginner Modes:

Your transmitter is equipped with 2 beginner modes optimized to help users get

used to the controls of their vehciles. When activated, these beginner modes reduce the throttle

output of the transmitter to reduce the overall speed of the vehicle, while leaving all other functions

fully operational. Follow the steps below to select the desired Beginner Mode.
