CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE (cont.)
5. VENTING SYSTEM
The venting system should be inspected and cleaned
at least once a year or more often depending upon
the quality of your fuel. If you are experiencing
nuisance shutdowns, check for a clogged exhaust
system. If the exhaust is restricted, the Vacuum Safety
Switch will shut the Feed Motor off (the red light will
remain on).
6. DOOR LATCH ADJUSTMENT
This door latch is non-adjustable but the gasketing
between the glass and firebox should be inspected
periodically to make sure there is a good seal.
7. BLOWERS
a. There are two blowers in this stove, an Exhaust
Blower that vacates the exhaust out of the firebox,
and a Convection Blower that delivers heat into
the room. THESE BLOWERS REQUIRE NO
LUBRICATION.
b. The Exhaust Blower is located on the right side of
the stove. To inspect it, remove the right side outer
skin. To do this, locate the two mounting screws.
The top one is right next to the Heat Output Control
Switch and six inches below it is the second screw.
Loosen only, do not remove. The panel will slide
up and away.
NOTE: The impeller on the motor can be
cleaned and inspected when performing Heat
Exchanger maintenance and cleaning.
c. The Convection Blower is located at the bottom
rear of the stove. It is housed inside the screen
box. To remove this blower for cleaning, there are
two screws facing forward in the center of the
blower chamber at the very back of the stove. If
an Outside Air Kit is installed on the appliance,
these screws attach the intake air channel piece
of the Outside Air Kit to the stove. Remove the
two screws and pull backwards on the channel. It
will slide down and away from the stove. (Refer
to Outside Air Kit Installation, page 16). With this
removed, the blower and housing may now be
removed. There are four screws that attach the
blower housing. Two on each side. Loosen all
four screws, but do not remove them. Now lift the
blower housing
slightly and slide back. Now unplug
the connector. The blower has two impellers, one
on each side of the motor. They should be cleaned
at least once each year. Finally reconnect the
connector and reinstall the blower
.
8. DOOR GLASS CLEANING AND REPLACEMENT
Be sure the stove is cold before cleaning the glass.
To clean the glass use a damp paper towel or any
nonabrasive glass cleaner. Then use a dry towel to
wipe off any streaks that may remain.
This glass is 5mm thick high-temperature heat-resistant
ceramic glass.
DO NOT REPLACE IT WITH ANY
OTHER MATERIAL.
CAUTION: Never slam the door or strike the glass in
any way as this may cause breakage.
The stove will
not operate with broken or missing glass.
9. READING THE FIRE AND FUEL ADJUSTMENT
PROCEDURES
A properly adjusted fire with the Heat Output Control
Switch set on high has a short active flame pattern
that extends out of the firepot approximately 4 inches
(102mm). If the fire has tall flames with black tails and
seems somewhat lazy, the feed rate will need to be
reduced. This is done by sliding the Fuel Adjustment
Rod down, which will reduce the feed. If the fire is
not 4 inches (102mm), slide the Fuel Adjustment Rod
up to increase the feed. Allow five minutes for feed
adjustment to take effect.
10.
SOOT AND FLY ASH - FORMATION AND
NEED FOR REMOVAL
The products of combustion will contain small particles
of fly ash. The fly ash will collect in the exhaust venting
system and restrict the flow of the flue gases. Incomplete
combustion, such as occurs during start-up, shutdown
or incorrect operation of the room heater will lead to
some soot formation. This will collect in the exhaust
venting system. The exhaust venting system should
be inspected at least once every year to determine if
cleaning is necessary.
